So much has happened since I last updated my blog. I’d like to first pick up where we left off, then update all other exciting things I got up to in later posts. The next thing I got up to since Havana was Varadero leg of my Cuba visit. It will not be long because all I did was eat, drink and become a beach bum.
I was picked up from my hotel in Havana by a bus. To my luck I was the last pick up point. There were other travelers heading to Varadero from Havana. The bus ride was about 2 hours. Unfortunately I was the second last to be dropped off at my hotel. In total it took me about 3 hours to get from my hotel in Havana to the one in Varadero. The bus dropped me off at Melia Varadero where I was welcomed with a glass of bubbly and my tag for the all-inclusive package. This means the fee I paid included all meals in all resturants as well as all drinks except champaign. There was tons of nice bubbly though haha! A lot of these were available 24/7 so you can wake up at 2am craving bubbly and go downstairs to get it haha!
The weather was morbid the day I arrived. It was windy, cloudy and a bit nippy. I was worried because all I wanted, was be a beach bum and the weather did not seem to allow. I spent my first day familiarizing myself with the resort, unpacking and chilling by the bar meeting new people.
To my luck, I woke up to a sunny clear sky with warm temperature the following day and went straight to the beach!
As I said, I spent the rest of the trip beaching, eating, reading and drinking. Here are some pictures.
Oh yes, I actually attempted sight-seeing but it turned out there is not much to see there, so I went for an unintended joyride. Here are the pics.
This sums up my Varadero experience. I would not recommend one to spend too much time here. All you can do is just beach, eat and drink. Nothing else really haha! It’s great for a good rest but if you stay too long, you will pick up a lot of weight. The resort had some really great restaurants and you could o as many times as you want (all inclusive unlimited).
